The Rochester School District takes great care when placing students into classrooms. Our goal is to place each child in a learning environment where they can thrive while also creating well-balanced classrooms.
Several factors are considered during the placement process, including (but not limited to) personality, academic readiness, special needs, Multilingual Learner supports, and behavioral supports. Each student’s characteristics, abilities, and needs are carefully reviewed by their current teacher(s), who play an important role in the placement process.
Parent input is also welcomed, though it is optional.
When completing the Parent Input Form, please keep in mind that the more specific and educationally relevant the information you provide, the more helpful it will be in the placement process.
The Parent Input Form must be submitted by April 24, 2026.
